Introduction

Membership of the South African Fiscal Association (SAFA) is open to individuals and corporations alike. Each corporate membership entitles the member to receive SAFA materials for three nominees, and to send two delegates to annual IFA congresses.

At present there are some 44 corporate members (with some 120 nominees), including most of the major accounting and law firms, as well as a fair sprinkling of major listed companies. The South African Revenue Service is the most prominent government member.

There are some 52 individual members, including many prominent accountants, advocates, and attorneys.

Membership benefits

Membership of SAFA confers two sets of benefits, namely:

  • Local benefits; and
  • International benefits

Local benefits

Membership of SAFA allows members to be plugged into the SAFA information programme. This is described in some detail on our page on what we do.

International benefits

Membership of SAFA confers automatic membership of the International Fiscal Association (IFA). This entitles members to participate in various IFA research programmes, through SAFA. Members are also entitled to attend the annual IFA Congresses.

Corporate members may send two delegates to the annual IFA Congresses and are consequently supplied with:

  • two Congress Invitation programmes
  • two sets of Cahiers de droit Fiscal International, and
  • the IFA yearbook.

More details on the IFA Congresses and the Cahiers appear on the page describing what we do.
